Traditional insurance provides little or no protection for tangibles called intellectual property ("IP"). These items, such as patent infringement, tech E&O, and Internet liability, are all important to organizations today. Since the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley, some companies are required to identify and value their IP assets. For many, these are their most important assets: Patents, business processes, trade secrets, and other proprietary information brands, trademarks, or works of authorship such as manuals, software, books, and videos.

Presented will be an outline of IP risk issues, a brief history of the development of insurance products for these, and additional resourses that should be of interest.
